Energy Efficiencies and New Lighting Refresh Pool Facility

The RSR team provides expertise to bring a pool facility up to date.

RSR Electric was contracted for the electrical and lighting system upgrades when a local private school planned to update their swimming pool facility. The owner requested a quote from RSR based on the successful experience working with our team and the project’s general contractor on a prior project. Of paramount importance to this project was adherence to the customer’s deadline for the work to be completed before the school’s opening swim meet. Therefore, RSR provided a careful plan to ensure the project’s completion within the owner’s tight timeframe.

The electrical system updates included providing 120 Volt 20 Amp power for both the NRG BAS panel and the NRG HVAC panel located in the mechanical room. The entire facility required updates to multiple systems to provide modernization and efficiencies. RSR provided conduit, supports, wiring, and devices for new GFI outlets for two water coolers in the pool area. Our team removed and replaced eight A/V speakers, and with strategic planning was able to reuse the wiring and controls from the old speakers. Additionally, RSR staff disconnected several radiant heaters.

A legacy of trust!

For over 90 years, RSR has been a trusted provider of registered commercial and industrial electrical design, engineering, and installation.

RSR also disconnected power and data from the scoreboard and reconnected the scoreboard utilizing a new low voltage cable to run directly to the judge’s stand. The updated facility also required removal and replacement of a fire alarm device, to ensure the safety of the swimmers, coaches, and public attending the swim events.

The expert team at RSR was also responsible for the new lighting system within the facility. This entailed the demolition and replacement of the lighting fixtures above the pool, as well as the lighting in the spectator area. Unique fixtures with tube lights above the pool illuminate the swimmers during the races, and perimeter lighting around the building coupled with new fixtures over the spectator area offer a bright environment.

Supply chain issues threatened to impact the very tight schedule for the project. The RSR team utilized communication and planning, to keep delayed materials from impacting the job progression. Our team worked closely with manufacturers and suppliers to have appropriate materials on site when they were needed to keep our staff working productively. Due to the size and complexity of this project nearly the entire RSR team was used to complete this project.

Meeting the very aggressive schedule deadline, the finished facility was opened in time for the first swim meet of the season. The owner’s construction manager stated that the entire project team was “A plus caliber,” as the project required the entire team to work closely together making almost daily adjustments to both scope and schedule in order to deliver a high-quality product an still meet the project’s demanding schedule. Communication, coordination, planning, and teamwork were the keys to the success of this project.
