H&S Industrial is working for a national beverage manufacturer to upgrade their local processing operations. The first part of a multi-part project, we are installing new silos, a platform, and the owner’s new equipment, as well as providing facility upgrades to support the new systems and processes. Because this facility produces a large volume of product everyday for human consumption, there are stringent requirements for the job site to maintain the highest hygienic standards inside the remainder of the building, while carefully minimizing disruptions to the owner’s daily operations.
H&S is working within a temporary hard wall that protects the interior of the fully operational facility from exposure to wind, weather, and construction activities. Our team is installing eighteen (18) silos, which will provide 9,720 cubic feet of storage space for additional product. This work will take place over the course of twelve weeks and includes setting the steel and installing the floor plate, handrail, stairs, and the silos.
Additionally, the H&S shop staff is blasting and painting 270 tons of steel that will be placed at the project site for the equipment platform. This encompasses 900 linear feet of schedule 40, 1.5” guardrail, four sets of steps with handrail, and 9,000 square feet of 0.25” blasted diamond plate. Once the steel is prepared in the shop, our field team will erect the steel of the platform while simultaneously placing the owner’s new primary equipment for a complete buildout.

In order to alleviate issues from supply chain disruptions the H&S project team coordinated delivery and storage of the new equipment. By utilizing storage spaces within two separate Viocity Group facilities, eighty 13’ x 7.5’ skids are being stored until needed on the job site. This allows our team to identify and stage the equipment offsite and prioritize the pieces by level of installation during the course of the project. The project team can then coordinate the delivery to the job site as each piece is needed to keep the project moving smoothly and according to schedule.
To support the new equipment, H&S is also providing services to upgrade the facility’s process piping systems. This work includes piping upgrades to the 4” domestic cold water, 4” natural gas, 12” primary and secondary storm water, 4” underground process waste, and a booster pump package. The updated process piping will connect all the new systems and components from the raw material stage to the finished packaged product.
